The “Renwu Dance Theater” was established in Tainan in 1999 by Zhe-cheng Gu, professor of dance department and dean of Art School of Tainan University of Applied Science, and famous Taiwanese dancer Liang Yan-fang. The dance group insists on creating original choreographs and aims to explore new forms of dance as performing art in Taiwan. Over the years, it has devoted itself to researching local cultural characteristics and integrating it into its creation. The dance group has entered its 21st year since its establishment. Its annual production of new works has been highly appreciated and praised by all walks of life. It is one of the few high-quality highly original performing arts groups in southern Taiwan.

The Theater worships liberal and creative physical vocabulary in its dance performances, and excels in integrating changing elements in life, culture, and natural environment in a carefully designed theater space to bring out a rich visual presentation with its unique aesthetics. Since its establishment, it has given hundreds of performances in Taiwan, Malaysia, five major cities in the UK, Hungary, Singapore, Japan... and other countries. The Theater, with its excellent creation and performance, has been awarded "Outstanding Performing Arts Group of Tainan City", "Outstanding Group" by Council for Cultural Affairs and the first prizes and selection prizes of "Nanying Performing Arts Award" for 11 consecutive times.
