Dance Formation “SOFISTIK-JIVO”

Dance Association "Sofistik - Jivo" was created in 1983 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The main idea of the association is to give assistance to the artistic development of young people who are engaged in the art of dance. The main interpreter of this goal is Dance formation “Sofistik - Jivo”. The dance ensemble works in a many genres - traditional Bulgarian folk dances, modern and jazz dance, dances of the nations, etc. – performing a huge variety of dance styles is our distinctive feature. Using contemporary music and traditional Bulgarian dance together is another typical mark of Sofistik-Jivo unique dance style.

Through the years the dancers of  Sofistik-Jivo have been presenting Bulgaria successfully through out the world and have won many national and international prestigious awards. Here is a list of the formation’s international tours – Moscow, Russia 1989; Romania 1991; Belgium 1992; Hungary 1995; Slovenia 1997; Italy 2003; Greece 2005, 2008; Jordan 2009; Turkey 1994, 1998 and 2010; India 2010.

A lot of dance groups are connected with Sofistik-Jivo. We teach children and adults from the age of 4 to 50. We aim to develop the artistic skills of  dancers and to cast a new light on the traditional Bulgarian folk dances and music.
