【News】The Winners of Nanying International Folklore Festival's 20th Anniversary T-shirts Designing Contest

Nanying International Folklore Festival has been held every two years since 1996. Tainan Cultural Affairs Bureau has decided to select memorial T-shirts through public competition. After two stages of selection process, the winners have been announced. The first two designs are from Hui-xiang Design(回鄉文創設計) and the students of the Department of Multimedia Design of Chang Jung Girls' Senior High School, Ou Min-fang(歐旻芳), Si Jia-ling(席嘉玲), and Jhou Mei-sing(周美杏), who are instructed by Ciou Yu-ren(邱鈺仁). The second winners are Cai Meng-ru(蔡孟儒), Southern Design(南方設計), and LEXIN-OPTP(綠星光電).

   This main theme of selected project needs to be integrated into the Tainan Humanities, history, geography-related etc. The selection is divided into two stages: The pre-competition is the “Design Drafts” design, and then the best chosen five come into the second stage. In the post competition, the competitors shall make it into 3 different kinds of samples (with pictures, colors, models etc.) of T-shirt. The price of the T-shirt should not be higher than NT$ 280 each in the quantities of 650 items as the accordance. The winners of those works not only get NT$ 30 thousand, but also get bought about 650 T-shirts as “2016 Nanying International Folklore Festival T-shirt.”

One of the winners, Hui-xiang Design(回鄉文創設計), uses “Nanying Five Taoist Sacrificial Ceremonies (南瀛五大香醮),”the folk parade, and the “Ruyi(如意)”shape as their design elements. Their design not only promote Tainan’s culture, but also hope that this T-shirt can bring luck to everyone who wears it. The other winner, the Department of Multimedia Design of Chang Jung Girls' Senior High School, utilizes “Song Jiang Array(宋江陣)” as their main idea and visual design, which plays an important role of Tainan’s traditional arts. The golden color represents honorable culture of Tainan, and the red and purple colors symbolize the vivid feature of Nanying International Folklore Festival.

Tainan is named as the cultural capital of Taiwan for its abundant cultural heritages. The main spirit to Nanying International Folklore Festival is to protect different cultures all around the world, to introduce Taiwanese culture, and to promote cultural diplomacy. This year, Nanying International Folklore Festival will start from Oct. 8th to Oct. 16th. There are 22 international teams invited from 20 countries, and most of the performances will be held at Nanying Green Park (南瀛綠都心) and other local places as well.
