Established in 1992, National University of Tainan Folk Team aims to popularize and pass down the spirit and skills of folk performances. The members have to go through a long term training which includes the skills of performing Dragon Dance, Song Jiang Battle Array, Drum Array, Lion Dance, Chinese Yo-Yo and Martial Arts. The folk team is invited to many big events as well as celebration ceremonies and Taiwan representative to perform in Singapore, Australia, Japan and Hawaii.
Dragon Dance is a kind of performance in traditional festivals as dragon is an auspicious sign. Besides creating a bustling atmosphere, it also stands for seeking good fortune, avoiding disasters or praying for rains.
